MONROVIA, JANUARY 20, 2016: Football action in the 2016 LFA-Cellcom National Championships will get underway this Thursday, January 21, 2016 at three football venues across the country.
The Cellcom-sponsored national championships will see games take place in Monrovia and Unification Town in Montserrado and Margibi counties, respectively. According to the fixture released by the FA’s Competition Committee, BYC II will welcome Gardnerville FC at the Blue Field in Central Monrovia while Aries FC will host Bendu FC at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium and Jubilee FC will lock horns with Fair Play FC in Unification Town, Margibi County.
Meanwhile, the LFA has been holding series of activities in a build up to the start of the national league.
A release from the LFA said a one-day workshop for match commissioners was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. The workshop focused on the rules and regulations governing the 2015/2016 league season. It also reviewed the laws of the game, football administration among others. The workshop was facilitated by former LFA President Cllr. S. Izetta Wesley, former Secretary General Yanqueh Borsay and Alex Nagbo, a former FIFA-badged Referee.
Several match officials that have been assigned to cover matches for the upcoming season were in attendance at the one-day event.
The LFA release said it will continue to hold events in the opening weeks of the national championship in order to prepare all teams competing in the 2015/16 Cellcom National League.
